U.S. Representative Linda Sánchez, who has represented California’s 38th district in Congress since 2003, issued a series of statements on January 24, 2026, addressing concerns over recent law enforcement actions and congressional efforts to regulate Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding.

In one post dated January 24, Sánchez called for accountability and transparency regarding law enforcement conduct: “There must also be a completely independent and fully transparent investigation into these aggressive tactics, and anyone who broke the law must be held accountable.”

On the same day, she highlighted legislative action taken by House Democrats: “The majority of House Democrats voted this week to block ICE’s funding and rein in the chaos. The Senate must immediately join us to end the escalation of violence.”

Sánchez also criticized certain law enforcement practices: “Agents without training, accountability or respect for human life are not law enforcement – they have become hired assassins.”

Linda Sánchez was born in Orange, California in 1969 and currently resides in Whittier. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991 and a JD from UCLA in 1995. Sánchez succeeded Steve Horn as representative for California’s 38th district.
