U.S. Representative Linda Sánchez, who has represented California’s 38th district since 2003, warned on October 1, 2025, about the potential consequences of a federal government shutdown in a series of posts on her official social media account.
Sánchez wrote that “Federal services like passport applications, permits, and small business loans will face serious delays.” She further highlighted the impact on public spaces and local economies by stating on the same day: ” National parks, museums, and federal sites will close, hurting tourism, workers, and local economies. All because Republicans refuse to lead responsibly.”
In another post from October 1, Sánchez emphasized the effect on military personnel and federal employees: “Active-duty military will continue serving, but paychecks will be delayed. Many federal employees could be furloughed. These are real people, not political pawns.”
Linda Sánchez was born in Orange, California in 1969 and currently resides in Whittier. She holds degrees from the University of California at Berkeley (BA) and UCLA (JD). Since taking office after Steve Horn in 2003, she has served as a congressional representative for her district.
