Rep. Linda Sánchez, who represents California’s 38th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on her social media accounts regarding the ongoing government shutdown and its local impacts.
On October 2, 2025, Sánchez attributed responsibility for the shutdown to congressional Republicans, writing, “This shutdown could have been prevented if Republicans worked with us to pass a realistic budget that protected American’s health care. Instead, they chose politics over people. They’re the only ones to blame for this shutdown.”
Later that day, she informed constituents about changes to a community event due to the shutdown: “Due to the government shutdown, my 20th Annual Senior Fair that was originally scheduled for this Friday has been moved to Nov. 13th at Pico Park. Join us from 9 AM–12 PM for resources & free health screenings.”
On October 3, Sánchez provided information about constituent services during the shutdown period: “As we continue to navigate this government shutdown, my office will remain open and ready to help. We’ve answered frequently asked questions to keep you informed. Check them out here: https://t.co/qL2eYl1Xac”
Linda Sánchez has served in Congress since 2003 after succeeding Steve Horn as representative of California’s 38th district. She was born in Orange, California in 1969 and currently resides in Whittier. Sánchez holds degrees from the University of California, Berkeley (BA) and UCLA (JD).
