Rep. Linda Sánchez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 38th district since 2003, has posted several updates on her official social media regarding the ongoing government shutdown and its effects on her constituents.
On October 20, 2025, Sánchez commented on the political impasse, writing, “We’re now in week three of this government shutdown, all because Republicans refuse to work with Democrats. Remember, they control the House, Senate, and White House — they could end this anytime. My office has put together a guide on what’s affected and resources to help.”
In a subsequent post the same day, she addressed the impact on healthcare access: “This shutdown is directly affecting healthcare. Without extending health care tax credits: 40,450 people in the 38th District — and 1 in 6 Californians — will see their premiums double. Find resources and info on support during the shutdown here.”
Later, Sánchez extended holiday greetings to her community: “Wishing a joyful Diwali to everyone celebrating in Southern California! May your celebrations be filled with light, love, and prosperity.”
Sánchez has represented California’s 38th District for over two decades. She succeeded Steve Horn in Congress in 2003 and continues to reside in Whittier, California. Born in Orange, California in 1969, Sánchez is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and earned her law degree from UCLA.
