Rep. Linda Sánchez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 38th district, addressed several national issues in a series of tweets posted on May 18 and 19, 2026.
On May 18, Sánchez criticized former President Donald Trump for his handling of federal funds, writing: “Trump created a $1.8 billion slush fund to give your money to his friends and allies, potentially including Jan. 6 insurrectionists. @HouseGOP won’t say a word. But Democrats are fighting back against this blatant theft of taxpayer money.”
Later that evening, Sánchez responded to news of violence in San Diego with another post: “Heartbroken by the tragic shooting in San Diego today. Praying for the victims, their families and everyone affected by this senseless act of violence. There is no place hate in our communities.” The message expressed condolences for those impacted by the incident.
On May 19, Sánchez commented on immigration policy under Trump’s administration: “Trump turning his back on Dreamers is sadly not surprising. Just more of his cruel policies. We should fix our broken immigration system, not force young people & families to live in fear.
If you need help with a DACA renewal, my office is here to help.”
Sánchez has represented California’s 38th District since replacing Steve Horn in 2003 and continues to serve her constituents from Whittier, California.[source] She was born in Orange, California in 1969 and holds degrees from both the University of California, Berkeley (BA) and UCLA (JD).[source]
