Rep. Linda Sánchez, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 38th district since 2003, used her social media platform on May 19, 2026, to criticize former President Donald Trump and highlight her legislative efforts regarding chemical pollution.
In a post published at 21:03 UTC, Sánchez wrote, “While Americans drown in Trump’s rising costs, he just rigged the IRS to ensure he and his family can never be touched for not paying their taxes. One set of rules for Trump, another for everyone else.”
Later that evening at 22:36 UTC, Sánchez addressed environmental concerns related to chemical companies and water safety. She stated, “Chemical companies have been poisoning our drinking water with cancer-causing forever chemicals and Trump now wants to let them dump even more. My bill would make these corporations, not taxpayers, pay to clean up their pollution.” In a subsequent post made at the same time, she encouraged followers to learn more about her proposed legislation: “Learn more about my bill and what I’m doing to hold PFAS manufacturers accountable.”
Sánchez has served in Congress since succeeding Steve Horn in 2003. Born in Orange, California in 1969 and currently residing in Whittier, she is an alumna of the University of California, Berkeley (BA) and UCLA (JD). Her recent statements are part of ongoing efforts by lawmakers to address issues surrounding tax policy enforcement and regulation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as “forever chemicals,” which have raised public health concerns due to their persistence in water supplies.
