Rep. Linda Sánchez, who represents California’s 38th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to address the ongoing Republican government shutdown and its effects on her constituents. Sánchez, who has served in Congress since 2003, invited residents to participate in a live telephone town hall to discuss their experiences during the shutdown.
On October 14, 2025, Sánchez posted, “We’re two weeks into the Republican government shutdown, and I want to hear how it’s affecting you. Join me for a live telephone town hall this Wednesday, Oct 15th at 7 PM PT to share your thoughts and get the latest updates. Register here: https://t.co/LN4ayKIz7M https://t.co/PSEbWa0LId”.
The following day, she highlighted the impact of federal immigration policies on local communities, stating, “L.A. County’s state of emergency shows what’s at stake. Our communities are terrified, families are being torn apart — all because of the Trump administration’s inhumane immigration raids. We must stand with our neighbors.

Later that same day, Sánchez reminded her followers about the upcoming town hall: “Don’t forget! Our live telephone town hall is tonight. You must register by 3 PM PT to join the conversation. I want to hear directly from you about how this shutdown is affecting you and your family.
