Rep. Linda Sánchez, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 38th district, recently took to social media to express her views on several pressing issues. Her statements focused on financial policies affecting American consumers, trade wars impacting farmers, and funding cuts for critical research.

On February 11, 2025, Sánchez highlighted the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's (CFPB) success in returning $17 billion to American consumers. In contrast, she pointed out that Elon Musk’s companies have benefited from substantial taxpayer-funded subsidies. She stated: "The CFPB has returned $17 billion to American consumers. Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s companies have taken billions in taxpayer-funded subsidies." She suggested that if Musk were genuinely concerned about saving taxpayers money, he should start with his own actions.

Later the same day, Sánchez addressed the economic repercussions of past trade policies under former President Trump. Referring to previous government measures during Trump's administration that resulted in significant financial support for farmers affected by trade disputes, she remarked: "The last Trump Trade War forced the administration to dish out $12 billion in subsidies to cover the damage to farmers." She urged her colleagues not to merely endorse these policies but instead defend working-class families from their adverse effects.

On February 12, 2025, Sánchez expressed concern over budget cuts affecting research institutions in California. She emphasized the disproportionate impact on universities due to reductions in National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding and noted her efforts alongside Rep. Scott Peters in opposing these cuts: "California Democrats are calling out the cuts to NIH, which will hurt our universities disproportionately." She called upon influential figures like Trump and Musk to help restore essential funding for life-saving research initiatives.
